Chris Pierce

Chris Pierce, PT, MSPT, CMT, CSCS, OCS
Co-Founder, Owner Balance Rehab and Health Science, LLC

Chris Pierce, co-founder of Balance, holds a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Science and a Master’s in Physical Therapy from Ithaca College. He further honed his clinical expertise through a residency at the prestigious Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy—an affiliate of Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston University—where he trained in the Norwegian Approach in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy (Certificate in Manual Therapy). He has also been performing trigger point dry needling for over a decade as part of his manual therapy approach.

Chris completed an internship in Athletic Training at Montana State University, deepening his understanding of sports medicine and athlete care. Not long after this, in 2006, he achieved the designation of Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).  This knowledge informs his work not only with competitive athletes but also with active aging clients who want to maintain strength, mobility, and an active lifestyle as they age.

Chris spent several years practicing in Montana, where he worked extensively with athletes and patients with complex rehabilitation needs. He served as Assistant Coach and Strength & Conditioning Coach for the men’s and women’s soccer teams at Montana State University and treated collegiate athletes from a variety of sports—football, basketball, skiing, and soccer—at the Saint Vincent Outpatient Rehabilitation Center in Billings. There, he was also one of two physical therapists providing specialized outpatient and transitional living care for patients recovering from brain injuries.

In 2022, Chris earned the designation of Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS), a board-certified distinction recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association. This credential signifies advanced clinical knowledge and skill in treating a wide range of musculoskeletal and orthopedic conditions, in both surgical and non-surgical contexts.

At Balance, Chris brings this expertise to a broad spectrum of clients—from children with developmental and physical challenges, to injured competitive athletes, to active adults looking to enhance their strength and physical performance. His goal is to help each individual perform at their highest level, whether on the field or in daily life.

Outside of the clinic, Chris’s passion for physical performance has deep roots. At Ithaca College, he was a two-time All-State wrestler, an Academic All-American, and a rugby player—where he met his wife, Tanya. In 2006, he proudly represented the United States as the team physical therapist for the U.S. U-19 National Rugby Team at the World Championships in Durban, South Africa.

Although now retired from competitive rugby, Chris continues to play with the Amoskeag “Old GOATS” Rugby Club. He enjoys mountain biking, snowboarding, and coaching wrestling at Goffstown High School. Most of all, he loves spending time outdoors with Tanya and their children, Kaya and Willem – hiking, biking, and camping together as a family.
