Specialized Services And Techniques
At Balance, we know that every patient is unique. One technique that works for one patient may not necessarily work for another. That’s why we provide a range of treatments and techniques that allow us to customize the most effective treatment for the individual. In addition to physical therapy, sports medicine, strength training, and our other programs, we offer the following specialized techniques and services.
Balance and Vestibular Rehabilitation decreases and eliminates symptoms of vertigo, dizziness, and imbalance. For those who suffer from benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), imbalance, unsteady gait, unilateral vestibular loss (vestibular neuritis or acoustic neuroma), bilateral vestibular loss (gentamicin toxicity), post-traumatic vertigo, or residual symptoms from a stroke or brain injury, then our Balance and Vestibular Rehabilitation can help you!
Manual therapy is a hands-on treatment that uses joint mobilization, joint manipulation, and kneading and manipulation of muscles to reduce and eliminate musculoskeletal pain and disabilities. Conditions that benefit from manual therapy include (but are not limited to) Fibromyalgia, myofascial pain syndrome, TMJ, arthritis, nerve irritation, ligament strains, herniated discs, wrist tendinitis, and many other pain-inducing conditions. Benefits of this therapy include spasm relief, increased muscle tone, increased blood flow, stimulated immune system, restored and corrected joint function, soft tissue healing, increased flexibility and range of motion, and so much more!
Trigger point dry needling is a type of manual therapy developed by Janet Travells, the former physician to President John F. Kennedy, who determined that “trigger points”—hyperirritable and pain-inducing spots within a taut band of contracted skeletal muscle—could be relieved by a needling method. Trigger point dry needling when performed by one of our specially trained practitioners is known to heal chronic injuries of muscles, tendons, and joints, decrease the sensitivity of trigger points, alleviate long-standing pain and tension, stimulate muscles, banish knots in muscles, restore normal muscle functions, improve blood flow, expedite healing time, and prevent injuries!
The Graston Technique, a form of manual therapy that was conceived by an athlete after he suffered a water skiing knee injury, is a patented form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that our physical therapists are specially trained in. This therapy proves especially beneficial for those who suffer from Golf elbow, Tennis elbow, wrist tendinitis, ITB tendinitis, Fibromyalgia, or neck, shoulder, knee, wrist, back, hip, or foot pain, and a number of other painful conditions. This treatment heals a variety of illnesses and problems, chronic and otherwise, and also reduces treatment time!
